Finding The Right Home Business Model

Finding the right home business model may or may not be
a lot of work. There is no surefire way to make money,
but that doesn’t mean people will stop trying.

People are finding ways to experiment with new
strategies and are trying to find home business models that
actually work for what they need.

The answer is really a no-brainer : If it doesn’t work, fix it.
If your business model is not working for you, change it.
If you are not seeing the profits you should from your current model,
it is time to change things.

Many businesses have gone through this sort of change.
With more and more people conducting business online,
and more people using mainstream media,
it is only smart to change what no longer works.

If the tires on your car won’t get you to where you
need to go, then it is obvious that they should
be changed.

Slow sales and slower uptake of online offerings have
forced many companies to focus on their core
competencies.

Companies are now aggressively marketing their services
to companies who need streaming media. Now many businesses
have taken their focus off of hard advertising and are
focusing on media advertising.

They were forced to change their business models or
could have suffered greatly, some even risking
going out of business.

It is very important to have a good business model set
up when going into business for yourself. Learn from
the biggest and most profitable companies.

I have been doing business for now 12 years online and have had
both great successes AND yes, I admit, horrendous failures. Some
ideas had to be scrapped to allow my time and efforts to be
concentrated on what was working. It can take a lot of trial
and error but is worth it in the long run.

I fired myself today :-)

I know full well where my strengths and talents lie … with my proofreading, editing, transcription service, social networking on twitter, facebook and LinkedIn and selling digital products via my Software Superstore PLUS being the editor of my ezine, Rim Digest for marketers and small business owners. This is not a HUGE list of talents or strengths, but these are MINE.

By specializing so tightly with my Virtual Assistance Business , I miss a lot of income and learning opportunities, so decided to branch out a bit and learn some new skills to add to my portfolio. Needless to say, I got way over my head – was WAY out of my comfort zone, was miserable and starting to feel, to be honest, like a total FAILURE and/or loser. Then it hit me, no one can be expert at everything AND why on earth was I trying to be?!

Hence the firing of myself from what could have been a really great financial gain down the line but was seriously causing me stress and a huge well of unbelief in myself. I am confident in what I do best and need to focus on those things and so, though I am still wanting to learn as much as I can in this ever-changing wonderful world of internet marketing and marketing my services, I am not going to worry about trying to do more than I comfortably CAN do.

With that in mind, I signed up for a course to become a Virtual Event Specialist and to Get Certified in this specialty because it really appeals to me and is something more in the line of what I am already doing.

A Couple of Spelling Tips I have GOT to Share

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Tallent Agency VA Services
Not only am I a Virtual Assistant who specializes in proofreading and editing , but I have also always excelled in spelling and grammar since grade school and later in high school.

I have a hard time reading a book for pleasure or enjoying a blog post because I can NOT turn off the part of my brain that sees the spelling, grammar and word usage errors. That is honestly a downer in my personal life but a big plus in my professional one.

Today, I am going to share three of the most common spelling or usage errors I constantly see both on the net and offline. These are on even the biggest famous name web sites and often in the biggest famous name print books. I am hoping that someone who reads this post might actually learn and benefit from these tips.

Number ONE

The number one, most often mis-used word I find both on the net and off is it’s and its. As a matter of fact, in the 10th grade, I LOST a city wide (St. Louis public schools) spelling bee over this one! I had managed to out-spell hundreds of other straight A & Honor roll students to get to the spell-off between one other student and ME, and with some of the hardest words you can imagine, and then LOST with its versus it’s!

Its is the POSSESSIVE. Something belongs TO IT.

An example would be: The dog wagged its tail when it saw its owner.

It’s is a contraction for the words it and is.

An example for this would be: The dog is wagging its tail because it’s happy to see its owner.

The second most common one I see AND the one I edit the most is the usage for these: your and you’re.

The POSSESSIVE for this one is your, as in:
Your dog is wagging its tail because it is glad that you’re its owner.

Likewise, you’re is the contraction for you and are.

Your dog is wagging its tail because it is glad that you’re its owner.

Number three is the there, their and they’re usages.

There are three ways to spell this word that sounds the same but they mean totally different things and they’re always ready to mix up their users.

Their is the POSSESSIVE form of this word. If it belongs to them, it is theirs.

They’re is a contraction for they and are.

There are lots of other usage errors out there but these three are the ones I see the most.

transcription assignments!
