About Jan Tallent

Jan Tallent Welcome and thank you for visiting my blog. My name is Jan Tallent, owner of Tallent Agency Virtual Assistance. I invite you to learn more about the proofreading, editing, transcription and data back-up services I offer, but for now I’d like to take a few moments to introduce you to myself and the beautiful family I’m so proud of.

I grew up in St. Louis, but moved 20+ yrs ago to a small town in Mid-Missouri and really enjoy the “Americana” atmosphere it provides.

I have three wonderful children- 2 girls (Crystal, 28 and Shannon, 17) and a boy (Justin, 22) and the most amazing grandchildren ever (of course!) My grand-daughter, who I have nicknamed “Princess Madison”, is the first child of my oldest daughter, who also added a boy (Aiden) to the family on April 4, 2009! My now almost two year old grand-son (Brayden) is the first child of my son. As you can probably tell, I sure do love my grandbabies!

The first business I ever owned was desk top publishing and office services, which I operated out of my home. That same year, 1998, I became a member of the wonderful world of internet marketing and have since weeded through the scams, cons and bull to find my *niches*.

In addition to owning Tallent Agency Virtual Assistance, I’m also the publisher of Rim Digest, one of the longest running weekly ezines in the Internet Marketing industry. I took over publishing of Rim from a friend in February of 2000, absolutely certain that I had no inclination to do an ezine, nor any interest in one other than as a subscriber! I was wrong.

I quickly fell in love with publishing and my subscribers, and it seems that I DO have “something” that makes Rim a success, because it grew from 32 subscribers to over 50,000 in just a few years. However; because of spam issues and bouncing email addresses, etc. I am now down to a select but VERY responsive 2,000+ subscribers. I learned the hard way that the *numbers* I was so proud of were just that- numbers! The small and select group of subscribers that I now have are some of the most loyal and caring people I have found in my now 11+ years of marketing on the net.

Added to these ventures is my online gift store fittingly named, “Down Memory Lane Treasures”, where you’ll find vintage Barbies, hard to find or out of print movies, memorabilia ( mostly Betty Boop ), novelties and more.

Once again, thanks so much for visiting and I hope by “meeting” me and my family, I become more “real” to my blog visitors.

Welcome

Over the past 12 years, Jan Tallent has spent countless hours providing writers and webmasters with free friendly tips on how to correct spelling and grammar errors in their written material.

From the feedback received she decided that since proofreading and editing help was so desperately needed she should build a business around something she enjoys doing, while at the same time providing a valuable service to business owners and writers.
