I have stopped answering phone calls during the day and let the answering machine handle it. My kids know that if it is a real emergency all they have to do is say, "Mom, help" and I'll pick up the phone. All other calls wait until later in the day and I'll return calls at that time. Every 6 months or so I have to lay down the law and remind them that though it may look like I'm just wasting time surfing the internet, I actually AM working.
