I want my OWN VA!
My phones are ringing off the hook, or would that be hooks? As my home office has the only entrance and exit currently in use in my house, my family and their friends need a revolving door AND, of course, know I am NOT really busy when they come through and want to visit.
I am currently running several home based businesses, one of which is my eBay store DownMemoryLaneTreasures selling movies, books, memorabilia and other items from my now retired brick and mortar store. After months of squeezing through a movie rack and going through 24 banana boxes as well of movies, over 500 books, etc. which are stored IN my home office, I finally quit procrastinating on organizing things in a more sensible way.
So, of course, there go the house phone, the office phone, my cell phone, the door being knocked upon every few minutes. And both of my kids that still live at home had dire emergencies only Mommy could solve, although at almost 22 and just turned 17 they assure me they are independent adults the rest of the time! Every time I would get my arms loaded up to move something or in the middle or arranging something I had moved, I got interrupted and half of the time lost my train of thought. It seriously never ends from when I reluctantly wake up in the morning until I blissfully pass out 18 hours later!
Just doing the research, taking needed pictures and listing and later, if unsold, relisting the eBay items is, in itself, a job that can suck up my whole day and evening. In between and around this venture I also have my online newsletter, or ezine, Rim Digest eZine for Marketers and others who sell anything and everything on the net, AND my Virtual Assistance office services business, Tallent Agency PLUS some other businesses I am slowly retiring from.
As I cannot get more hours out of a day, I would love to hire someone to do the things I frankly do not enjoy doing and free myself and my time up to concentrate more on the things I DO like to do.
If you find you also have chores or assignments you have to do but find wear you out and keep you from being able to enjoy the freedom to do the things that really give you satisfaction or you find to be fun, you just might need your own VA as well.
And, if proofreading or editing your documents and writings are the things that take the fun or satisfaction out of YOUR day, you might just want to keep me in mind for your future projects!
Of all the assignments I have had with office work and/or virtual assistance, the ones I really love and get great satisfaction from ARE the editing and proofreading ones and this is why I am concentrating most on THIS area of virtual assistance.

I know what you mean, Jan. Personally, I could use 2 VA’s, one for online and one for my real business. Speaking of VA services, you know it’s awfully hard to proofread your own writing? For instance, in the 3rd paragraph, did you really meant to write “a job that can suck of my whole day” and your 2nd sentence in the 2nd paragraph is one run-on doozy! Know you’re great at what you do though

ROFL! Thanks for catching those and yes! I tell even the best writers that it is our OWN uhohs! that we are apt TO miss! Fixed the suck up my whole day booboo and yes, I sure did run on in second sentence of second paragraph!

I have the same problem Jan, in the evenings and during weekends. I have stopped answering phone calls during the day and let the answering machine handle it. My kids know that if it is a real emergency all they have to do is say, “Mom, help” and I’ll pick up the phone. All other calls wait until later in the day and I’ll return calls at that time.
Every 6 months or so I have to lay down the law and remind them that though it may look like I’m just wasting time surfing the internet, I actually AM working. It works, for about 6 weeks. lol
